1. Been anywhere recently for the first time?
Yep. The Mordecai House here in downtown Raleigh. That was when I thought Spring had come to stay. Silly me.
2. List three favorite book characters.
Special Agent Pendergast by Douglas Preston & Lincoln Childs
Special Agent Pendergast makes his appearance in The Relic as a southern FBI agent based in NYC assigned to investigate a slew of murders in the Museum of Natural History. Is it a human psychopath, or did those wacky scientists bring back something not so human and very, very hungry from the Amazon? Its sequel, Reliquary, has a subway scene that still freaks me out to this day. Pendergast is in a lot of other books, but I kind of stopped caring after Cabinet of Curiosities.
Runner-up: The reporter in the Special Agent Pendergast series. Love Him. That’s all I can say. Love the guy.
John Corey is my muse. You can find him in Plum Island. John’s got a cult following, but I only read Plum Island because half way through the sequel, whatever it’s called, John goes and dumps BETH for some FBI SKANK, and I was all, NOOOOOOO. I couldn’t deal, because… I CAN’T SAY WHY BECAUSE IT’S A SPOILER. John, John, John. Pftt.
Tana can be found in the stand alone YA novel, The Coldest Girl in Coldtown. In a world where vampires are real and taking over, Tana wakes up in a bathtub to find she’s the sole survivor of vampire-led massacre. Even though her instincts are to get the f*ck out, she curbs her fear enough to rescue her idiot ex-boyfriend… and a tied-up vampire who may or may not be a victim himself. In the subgenre of teen vampire stories, Tana is unique because she’s no victim. She’s a hero, and she shines. One of the few books I’ve read where I wished there was a sequel.
3. What is your favorite non-alcoholic drink: hot or cold?
Coffee.

What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week?
Lilacs.

I cannot wait for the lilacs to bloom. It will be at least two months though. We are still waiting for the crocuses and daffodils to bloom.

They snuck up on me. One moment, everything was dead, then BOOM! Lilacs are everywhere. Be careful. They might do the same to you. 🙂
On a sad note, they’re starting to fade. *sigh*
