Bedizen

Veronica walked into the room carrying a stack of dresses. “What do you think? Anything worth bedizening?”

Betty stared at her, then marched over to the bookcase and pulled down the latest edition of Merriam-Webster’s Unabridged English Dictionary. “Bedizening? Omigod. Who says bedizening? I can’t… I can’t even. Bedizening. Bed. I. Zen. Ing. Whatever. What… ever.”

“It’s the word of the day,” Veronica sniffed and dropped the dresses on the sofa. “It means to dress or adorn gaudily.”

Betty hurled the dictionary at her head.

    1. Bedizen. What a word… and it’s a verb, too. Who knew? All I could picture was how my BFF would react if I said bedizen in ordinary conversation. She’d be all… Liz, stop. Just stop.
