Sharing my World – July 23, 2018

In regards to puzzle what’s your choice: jigsaw, crossword, word search, mazes, logic or numeric puzzles, something else, or nothing?

Hmm… mazes and word searches. Everything else makes my four-letter word for what we use to see and a five-letter word for what two sticks make if they’re lying horizontally and vertically on each other.

(Answer: Eyes Cross)

What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week?

A raven photobombing me at Edgar Allen Poe’s gravesite.

See the black mark on the left? It’s not there on the right. I was all SUPERNATURAL, but then I realized it was a bird.

    1. Except when she’s sleeping! After that burst of energy, she slept for nearly nine hours. I checked on her a couple of times to make sure she was still breathing!

    1. I’m not even lying, that place was so creepy. So, so creepy. Like hair standing on the back of your head and the feeling somebody’s behind you when there’s nobody there. C-R-E-E-P-Y. Made all the more creepy by the students studying in the courtyard behind the fence. I don’t even. I don’t.

      1. Okay, so I learned something trippy about Mr. Poe… okay, a lot of things trippy which I won’t go into… but the main one is a potential theory to how and why he died. After his first wife Virginia’s death, he had found his way back to his first love – a southern girl of means – and her family was all, I don’t think so – and the theory is that her family murdered him. The big clue is what he had been found in – he was a distinctive dresser, but he was found wearing worker’s garments. Something he would normally never wear. The theory is they kidnapped him for those three missing days, beat him over and over, stripped him, then dumped him, when he died soon after.

Go to the cemetery. You’ll enjoy it. I wish I had time to make it to his house. I think that would have been awesome, too.

      2. Like, I had no idea he was an aristocrat, and that he was raised by the Allen family in the south after his parents (who were actors) died. Also, omigod, his poor wife ( and first cousin) died in New York. A Poe fan wanted to reunite them, but couldn’t afford to transport her remains right away, so he dug her up and put her in something like an ossuary under his bed for a couple of years until he could afford it.

You know you’re a fan if you keep the bones of your favorite author’s dead wife under your bed for a year.
