I love WordPress. Every time I think I’m at loss on things to blog about, I stumble onto something that gets me thinking… and writing. Today it’s WWW Wednesday.
The three Ws stand for:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
Let’s play!
What am I currently reading?
Caraval by Stephanie Garber.
I haven’t got that far into it yet, but so far it’s about this girl named Scarlet who’s living on an island-nation with her sister Donatella – aka Tella. Scarlet’s all psyched because she’s about to GTFO by getting married. So what if it’s an arranged marriage? The guy seems nice. Plus, her father’s abusive, and her mystery fiancé is going to let Tella move in with them. I’d be suspicious, but that’s me.
Anyway, Scarlet gets a couple of tickets to Caraval, which is some awesome thing I’d like to go to, but she’s all, I can’t, I’m getting married. But her sister’s like, we gotta go, and here’s this handsome sailor who can help us. And the sailor’s like, sure, I’ll help. But then dad shows up and smacks Tella around and gets her all motivated to GTFO. Scarlet tries to stop her, but then the sailor kidnaps her…
And that’s where I’m at. It’s good so far.
What did I recently finish reading?
OMG, THE MOST HEART-BREAKING BOOK.
TURN AROUND! TURN BACK IF YOU HATE SPOILERS!!!
THIS IS YOUR LAST WARNING!!!
I’M SERIOUS.
YOU’VE BEEN WARNED.
It was about an honor killing.
Yasmin is the emotionally abused and neglected daughter of an extremely pious Iman living in the UK. She falls in love with Dean, who’s all bad and naughty until you find out why. (I still don’t like him. I’m just saying). Yasmin’s family are humiliated when they find out, and they kill her. It’s horrible. I can’t stop thinking about it… particularly one line after she’s dead.
Her mother looks at her dead body and says, “Oh, look, she wet herself.”

What do you think you’ll read next?
I’m curious because it seems like it’s a lot like Matched by Ally Condie.
I can’t really tell you what it’s about because I haven’t read it yet, but the blurb says “DNA testing” and “Finding Your Perfect Match.” The insinuation is that it’s bad.
I don’t know. I’d probably do it, especially if there’s a Groupon.
There you have it. My reads for August 15. Thanks for tuning in!!
Have fun with Caraval, especially with Legendary! (which i liked a LOT better than Caraval)

Caraval was on a list I read calling it the best of YA for 2017 or 2016. I really like it!

I am always into more than one work at a time, dropping some without finishing, and previewing others–so it’s very hard for me to answer these questions. 😀
